Disaster in Philipines and How You Can Help

Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storm to date, has left the Philippines devastated. The typhoon hit the small island on Friday and since then millions have been displaced from their homes and the country is still reeling from the powerful storm. The storm caused water levels up to 10 ft in some areas, the water rushing like that of a tsunami. Philippine military have so far confirmed thousands of deaths and it is estimated that around 10,000 deaths have occurred.

US marines and soldiers made their way to the country on Sunday to begin helping with rescue. The U.N. has responded as well, shipping food and providing support. The Red Cross and AmeriCare are also aiding through distribution of medical aid and food. The storm has now hit Vietnam and will move to China where it eventually will dissipate
